Donald Glover is, sincerely, one of the most talented guys doing anything/everything right now.
And I think I sorta love him because he has the awkward/self deprecating thing down to a science…but he’s also really talented and backs it up. That’s how self-deprecating should be: it should take you from “jesus man, C’MON already” to “hey, that was pretty clever.”
He’s got that down to a science.
This monologue is on the backend of the last song on CAMP, his first “I’m a real boy” album that comes out next Tuesday. The album is just bonkers good, and I really really hope he makes it huge…but I guess he already sorta has, huh?
But just listen to this monologue. The writing is just tremendous…and the turn at the very end is absolutely brilliant…
Because it explains who he is in the most articulate way possible.
And I respect the shit out of that.
