It’s like you throw clapping in anything and it’s infinitely better.
Seriously.
Also, she’s got an okay voice.

I couldn’t be happier with the modern formula.
Take an incredible indie song. Throw in the loop from the cover of THAT song. Then slap on a beat.
Oh, and be a white guy.
Who fucking cares, man. It sounds good.

Oh, Florence. You and your machine are just great.

The xx just came through SF. I’ve never seen a reaction like this, EVEN from the oh-so-judgmental SF crowd.
I was excited when I saw they were opening for Friendly Fires. Really excited. And considering Friendly Fires to me are the equivalent of what Santa must be to an eight year old child, that’s a lot of excited.
Absurdly good live. I mean, everything you’d think. Just kind of…creepy sexual yet really family like. See what I did there? I creeped you out with that thought process. But they just have this 1980’s sound that’s kind of Morrissey-ish. You know, the whole, “oh my god I’m depressed but holy shit i thought up this AMAZING melody to go along with my depression”. And the funny thing is…almost EVERYONE at the show left after their show. Which, while I was like the angry girlfriend in the crowd pissed that no one stayed to see my boyfriend’s show…was also kind of cool to see. Because I think that means a band is getting what they deserve when buzz is this big. So high five, depressed one’s, you made it! And I hope you come back to SF soon. Just stop fuckin’ up the Friendly Fire’s happiness on stage by sending all the fans home early: they looked like dad missed their soccer game.
Oddly, this was a song the venue’s DJ played after The xx left the stage. And I remember thinking (and by “remember” I mean, “no I don’t but I heard this today and think maybe I heard this after they left the stage”) that this was an absurdly great cover of ANOTHER band that deserves to blow up.
This is The xx remixing/covering Florence & The Machine’s “You’ve Got The Love”. Nice way to go into Thanksgiving. That chorus loop…hoo-effing-rah it’s good.
