My head is going to explode if one more Canadian, kinda white-ish guy comes out that I enjoy this much.
I mean, is this a bit “sexxxxxy slooowwwwww jamzzz”?
Yeah.
But, admit it. It’s kinda rad that he had the balls to cover MICHAEL FREAKING JACKSON.
And he did it really well.
This happens a lot in the trendy modern age.
People start talking about something. Anything, really. A band, some movie, a tv show. And then you hear it somewhere else that’s not just a friend. Maybe it’s a “meh, I read that blog from time to time” blog. Or maybe it starts showing up in your twitter feed more. So you check it out.
And you’re bummed, because you hate it. And now everyone and their mother loves this, you know you’re going to see it everywhere…and inexplicably, everyone loves something that you hate. And you feel awkward, because…does that mean you’re Johnny Raincloud? Does that mean…heaven forbid in this hipster age…that you don’t get it?
That’s how I’ve felt about The Weeknd.
So I finally asked a friend, who’s like, INTO them/him…just give me ONE song. Sell me on this. Please. I want to like them/him.
And boom. She sent me this. And it’s just fact magazine good. And maybe I don’t get the rest of his/their music yet…but damn.
This is why people must like The Weeknd.
